THE ART OF FILM MAKING EP 4: AISHA
Glamorous outfits, world renowned fashion labels and South Delhi culture all screams one name only, and that is Aisha!
Aisha released in 2010 starring Sonam Kapoor, Ira Dubey and Abhay Deol in pivotal roles. The film centres around Aisha Kapoor a rich socialite type of girl from South Delhi who is fond of match-making. For any literature fanatics out there, you would realise that the film is loosely derived from the 1815 book "Emma" by Jane Austen. Many would also draw similarities to the 1995 Hollywood film "Clueless". In my opinion 'Aisha' is a desi spin off of 'Clueless'.
This movie is definitely not a very artsy film but it is a must watch in it's own right. I have watched this film at least four times and each time feels just as fresh as the first. Aisha is what you'd call a classic commercial film with all the catchy songs in the movie album and all the glamorous costumes.
The main storyline is when Aisha encounters Shefali at her aunty's wedding, and that's when she discovers that Shefali has come to Delhi to find herself a suitable groom. Now Aisha takes this as a mission for herself to find Shefali a husband and she starts her mission by giving Shefali a whole makeover.
The film begins with Aisha being a self centred shallow person, however by the end of the movie she is humbled by everyone around her and becomes more of a grounded person.
This is truly the perfect watch for a girls night!
