THE ART OF FILMMAKING EP 3: OLD BOLLYWOOD MAKES A RETURN

 A little birdie told me that old Bollywood has made a return. That's right! You've heard it correct. Karan Johar has released a film under his directorial after ten years. In this star studded movie you will see Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi. In Karan Johar's last movie 'Student of the year' he also worked with Alia bhatt, it was actually the film she was launched into the film industry in. 

The film is called 'Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani' (Rocky and Rani's love story). As the name of the film suggests, this movie is in fact a love story. The main plot is about Rani Chatterjee a big time journalist from a liberal Bengali family, and Rocky Randhawa who hails from a conservative wealthy Punjabi family who fall in love with each other while in pursuit to reunite Rocky's grandfather with his old lover, who is also Rani's grandmother.

The couple's respective families disapprove of their relationship which motivates both Rocky and Rani to change their families' perspectives. Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani discusses vital topics like colourism, the patriarchy and traditional values. 

The entire film is an ode to the craft of Yash Raj Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with colourful sets, songs set in exotic locations and a tribute to classic Bollywood songs.
